HDMI - High - Definition Multimedia Interface

An HDMI extender allows for a greater distance between the source device, such as a computer or media player, and the display monitor. There are several kinds of extenders available including passive extenders, which are more basic and allow for shorter extensions, as well as active extenders which are more advanced and allow for longer distances. For longer distances, many HDMI extenders utilize methods such as signal amplification or converting the signal to Ethernet or fiber optic. In installations such as multi-room or conference hall AV setups, HDMI extenders allow for displays to be set at a distance to the source devices while still retaining signal quality.
