Within the field of network communication, transmitter and receiver are the device which sends and receives signals. For instance, in fiber optic communication, the transmitter takes electrical signals from a network device, converts them to optical signals, and transmits them through fiber optic cables. The receiver on the other end, converts the optical signals to electrical signals so that the receiving device can process them. These components are vital to other network types such as Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Fiber Optics.
